Spring Basketball Champion Crowned
Fresh Habits hit the century mark on their way to winning the 2014 MUSA Spring Basketball league by defeating Young Bucks 100-72. Young Bucks kept it close the first half but Fresh Habits poured it on by scoring 68 of the 100 in the second half lead by Paul Brooks and Sedale Washington with 24 each. Kalon Glass also poured in 20 points including 9 rebounds which lead all players. Young Bucks Bobby Komorowski lead all scorers with 44 but wasn’t able to avenge the regular season 83-59 loss. Hard to compete with the 5 of 6 players scoring in double figures for Fresh Habits. Congrats on the Championship guys.
The night started off with Strictly Business defeating Practice Squad 76-64. Ken Edwards led Strictly Business with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Jon Krumree of Practice Squad led all scorers with 29, going 5-10 from the arc.
Basket Brawlers beat Avengers 70-55 in the second game of the night. Led by the 20 point 12 rebound game from Rhea Taylor, the Brawlers handed Avengers their 2nd loss to them this season. Didn’t help that Avengers were 2-19 from the 3-point arc in the losing effort. Rhea Taylor and teammate Armondo Diaz were a combined 16-22 from the field but only 2-8 behind the arc.
The 3rd game of the evening saw Colonel Hart’s getting the better of Salty Dogs by the score of 77-66. Colonel Hart’s was able to seek revenge for an earlier season 1 point loss to Salty Dogs and was led by Jason jackson with 32 points and added 9 rebounds. Matt Mittelstaedt netted 21 points in the loss for the Dogs. I also find it interesting that Paul Massey ended up scoring 11 and grabbed 11 rebounds while wearing the #11 jersey. Some spooky stuff there.
Thanks for all the teams that participated in the 2014 MUSA Spring Basketball League and I look forward to seeing many of you back on the courts the next session.
